John Puziss
As a key member of the leadership team of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, Dr. Puziss leads licensing and new ventures for the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and assists the Director in formulating strategy and prioritizing goals, managing TTO personnel, and developing and interpreting policies relating to intellectual property. Dr. Puziss provides leadership in designing and executing industry engagement and start-up strategies, provides direct support for life science/biomedical licensing and business development, and manages high-impact, complex licensing and enterprise-wide transaction.
Dr. Puziss is the Deputy Director of Technology Transfer at Dartmouth, where he leads a team of professionals who are responsible for the advancement and commercialization of technologies developed at Dartmouth. He is a recognized expert in licensing university technologies and in academic-corporate research collaborations.
Prior to Dartmouth, he was Executive Director of Business Development at Yale Ventures, the Technology Transfer office for Yale University. He has served on the Board of Directors of ReNetX, Inc, a biotech company developing therapies for spinal cord injury, stroke, and glaucoma; and MindNest Health, a digital health startup developing behavioral training for parents.
Before joining Yale, he was an Associate in Business Development and Marketing at Proteome, Inc., and a Senior Research Investigator in anti-infective drug discovery at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Dr. Puziss received his B.S. cum laude in Microbiology from the University of Rochester, and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He was an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellow in the Dept. of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
