Shaping the Future of AI:
Dartmouth Conference Brings Together Top Minds
Dartmouth Technology Transfer Office experts joined the Dartmouth AI Conference to explore cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence and strategies to advance Dartmouth’s AI-enabled innovations for global impact.
The Technology Transfer Office works with Dartmouth researchers to translate their groundbreaking AI research into real-world solutions, using innovative strategies to transfer intellectual property and find the best commercialization paths.
The conference held October 11 in San Francisco, and sponsored by Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, Thayer School of Engineering, and the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, brought together AI experts and innovators to explore cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence.
Featuring 19 executive speakers from leading organizations such as Anthropic, DeepMind, Microsoft, Y Combinator, and the White House Office of Science & Technology, and 400 participants attending in person and online, the conference was a platform for discussing the evolving role of AI across industries, while highlighting Dartmouth's ongoing leadership in this transformative field.
The term “artificial intelligence” was coined by Dartmouth faculty during a historic summer workshop held in 1956. Today, the university continues to advance AI innovation, bridging the gap between research and real-world applications through initiatives like technology transfer. Featuring Dartmouth alumni speakers and facilitating key industry connections, the conference underscored how the university’s strong tech ties are shaping the future of AI while offering invaluable opportunities for students.
Thirty Tuck School students participated in the event, gaining valuable insights and networking opportunities that will influence their future careers in technology.

About the Dartmouth AI Conference
The Dartmouth AI Conference was founded with the vision of exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in business and society. As AI reshapes industries and impacts global economies, this annual event brings together thought leaders, innovators, and professionals to share insights, discuss challenges, and uncover new opportunities in the AI ecosystem.
The conference was conceived by the leadership of the Center for Digital Strategies at the Tuck School of Business. Executive Director, Patrick Wheeler, and Faculty Director, Professor Alva Taylor, recognized the need for a dedicated forum that would bridge the gap between academic advancements in AI and their practical applications in business.
The event is now co-hosted by the Tuck School of Business and the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, with support and partnership from the Thayer School of Engineering.
